SunGreen Systems Celebrates Five Years of Donating Reliable
Solar Power to Habitat for Humanity Homeowners

Wednesday June 1, 2016

Habitat for Humanities and SunGreen Systems Work Together
to House People in Need Today and Reduce Carbon Emissions to Preserve the Future

IRWINDALE, Calif. (June 1, 2016) – SunGreen Systems, experts in the design and construction of commercial solar systems and sustainable, smart energy solutions, noted that this week marks the five-year anniversary of the company’s partnership with Habitat for Humanities to donate solar system installation as part of home construction. After five years, the SunGreen systems installed in Habitat for Humanity homes continue to perform flawlessly, allowing homeowners to save on energy costs and reduce their home’s carbon footprint.

In 2011, SunGreen Systems donated and installed solar power to the entire San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity Geneva Community which consisted of five homes. Adding solar to these homes is estimated to reduce the cost of energy by 50 percent, which is an important consideration for families with limited income. More importantly, adding sustainable solar power to Habitat for Humanity housing has eliminated an estimated 80,460 pounds of carbon emissions.

“Our collaboration with Habitat for Humanity is a concrete demonstration of the notion that we have to think globally, but act locally. SunGreen Systems cares about our local community and by working to ensure we build housing in our own back yard with sustainable solar energy, we are both serving our neighbors as well as helping preserve the environment.”

“We are tremendously grateful to SunGreen Systems for their interest in and support of our first ‘green’ build,” said Sonja Yates, Director of San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity. “SunGreen’s solar panels will create value and savings for the Habitat for Humanity homebuyers who purchase these homes.”

The ongoing flawless performance of SunGreen Systems solar installations also demonstrates the savings any homeowner or building owner can get from sustainable solar. In addition to the immediate savings in electricity, solar systems continue to deliver reliable power for decades. Most manufacturers guarantee that their solar panels will continue to delivery 80 to 90 percent of their power output even after 25 years of use.

“Our solar is working great and we love having it,” said one homeowner who purchased a Habitat for Humanity home equipped with a solar system installed by SunGreen Systems. “We are so grateful to have the solar panels on our homes and feel that they make a huge difference in savings. As we look at our water and power bill, most of our expense is on water. We see the most savings during summer when our air conditioner is on and the bill is still reasonable. We are extremely thankful and blessed to have had these panels as part of our home.”
